The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a pot shot at Congress for failing to keep its flock together as eight Congressmen were “sold to join BJP.” At a press conference held soon after the BJP officially announced the induction of the defected legislators, AAP leader, and Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas claimed that Congress was always on sale.
“BJP ka dil maange more” and the final Congress MLA clearance sale would occur before Christmas,” he alleged.
Viegas further said that AAP is the only hope for Goa and Goans while urging the voters to realize the opportunistic politics of such politicians.
AAP President Amit Palekar, also present at the briefing, accused the BJP of finishing the Opposition to run a government sans critics. “Since the BJP wants “opposition-free” India, they have been trying any and every method to eliminate the Opposition. There have been attempts to bribe AAP leaders in Delhi and Punjab, but BJP has failed miserably. AAP is currently the sole alternative since AAP is the only party in the nation that is strongly challenging the BJP,” he said.
Palekar went on to state that Congress leaders’ alliance with the BJP was unholy for Goa.
AAP Velim MLA Cruz Silva commended Velim residents for choosing AAP over other parties. “The setting between certain Congress leaders and the BJP was exposed in a video released before elections. As AAP has always said, voting for Congress is an indirect vote for the BJP. We promise that AAP MLAs will not join any party and will work for the betterment of the common people,” he said.
