Allotment done transparently: MLA

MAPUSA

Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar said the allotment of plot to Halarnkar Education Society was done in a transparent manner by the government and the allegations made against him were politically motivated.

“The allotment of plots was done by inviting applications through a tendering process. One plot was given to the Halarnkar Education Society and another plot was given to Tarun Bharat. At least my organization is an education institute,” Harlarnkar said.

He also informed that he was currently not a committee member of the Halarnkar Education Society.

He further said all due process was followed while getting the plot allotted to the society.

“There is no hanky-panky in this. Everything is legal,” he reiterated.

The Tivim MLA informed that around 6 lakh sq mt of land was acquired by the Housing Board when Dr Wilfred de Souza was the CM in late 1990s.

“The proposal was to build a township there. Later around 1.5 lakh sq mt of the land was allotted to the Colvale jail. So consequently the original plan also changed,” he said.
