Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Thursday said the credit of keeping the country united went to Babasaheb Ambedkar who had the foresight to write the Indian constitution keeping people of all religions and castes in mind.
Amonkar was the chief guest at two events, one organised at GRB Colony in Sada and another function organised at Baina.
Amonkar addressing a large gathering at Baina on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti also extended greetings and best wishes in the presence of Ward councillor Shraddha Mahale and Yogita Parsekar.
"Ambedkar is known as the father of the Indian Constitution and he had the foresight at that time on how to keep the country together and taking all people of all religions and castes together and it is a matter of pride that we are still following the constitution till date," said Amonkar.
"Today, the country is united and bound by the constitution and the entire credit goes to Babasaheb Ambedkar and on this occasion I want to congratulate the people for organizing the function and take this opportunity to publicly thank each one of you for extending support to me and getting me elected as an MLA with a huge margin.”
“I also want to assure that we will celebrate the Ambedkar Jayanti on a bigger scale next time by bringing all the people together by making plans a month in advance," said Amonkar.
