RTO officials on Friday carried out a drive and fined 15 rent-a-car operators for illegally utilising public parking space in Vasco.
Speaking to reporters, Assistant Transport Director Rajesh Naik said efforts were being taken to enforce parking regulations and address traffic congestions in Vasco.
"We have begun a special drive because we were getting a lot of complaints that rent-a-car operators are parking haphazardly in public parking areas. This was one of the main reasons why people cannot get parking in the city,” said Naik.
“We carried out a special drive and issued challans to 15 rent-a-car vehicles found parked in public parking areas. We will carry out this drive across all locations and issue challans to rent-a-car vehicles found in public places. We will also take further steps, including action on their permits if needed," said Naik.
