A resident of Pundalik Nagar in Porvorim died, while two others were injured in a road mishap near the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at Bambolim on Sunday night.
According to information available, Viral Mehta along with two friends had gone on a drive from Dona Paula to Bambolim in a new car owned by one of the friends.
On reaching near the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium, the car driver lost control and the vehicle first hit the road divider, then an electricity pole and then the car went on to hit a couple standing near their bike, before crashing against a dead stone wall.
The impact of the accident was such that Viral and the car driver Varun Mehta were seriously injured, while the car was severely damaged.
Viral along with the car driver Varun was shifted to the GMC Hospital at Bambolim, where Viral was declared brought dead. Varun's condition is serious and he is currently in the ICU.
In the accident, the woman who was standing besides her husband on the bike when the car hit them, also suffered a fracture to her leg.
Agassaim police have registered a case of unnatural death and PSI Smita Morajkar is conducting further investigations in the matter.
