PANAJI
Fifteen students from the Mustifund Higher Secondary have secured ranks for the IIT JEE (advanced) exams. The two highest rankers have said they plan to apply for engineering courses at IIT Mumbai and IIT Madras.
Speaking to media persons after the declaration of the results, topper, Aditya Patki said he was happy with the outcome and had not expected it as the paper was a difficult one this time.
Vyankatesh Prabhudesai of the high school said this year’s result was unexpected as it was one of the toughest papers set.
“This year’s IIT JEE Advance exam was one of the toughest compared to the last 15 years. It was so difficult that IIT themselves reduced the cut off to 75 marks, 55 marks less than the last time,” he said.
While Patki scored 1st with 192 marks and a ranking of 747, the second rank was secured by Deepak Gopalan with 187 marks out of 372 standing at 900th rank. Third spot was secured by Aby Jose who got an overall ranking of 2183.
“I was not too confident of securing enough but I am happy with the result as I will try for IIT Mumbai and Madras. Physics and Maths were the two difficult subjects for me,” said Patki who wants to become an engineer.
Of the 15, two were Margao residents while 13 were based in Panaji.
