2 hurt in Tivim hit & run mishap

Two riders were injured in a hit-and-run incident at Madel-Tivim on Saturday and the car which sped away after knocking down the scooter was later recovered in the Tivim Industrial Estate.

A dispute over vehicle parking at the Tivim railway station is believed to have provoked the car driver to hit the two wheeler. The incident is reported to have taken place at about 1.15 pm, when a car knocked down a scooter and sped away.

Two riders, Sunil Kumar Sahani (56) and Sudhir Kumar Sahani (30), both from Ganeshnagar-Colvale, were injured in the accident. They were shifted to the Mapusa District Hospital and later sent home after treatment.

A Colvale police team went to the site and managed to locate the car in the Tivim Industrial Estate and identify the car driver, who is from Calangute.

Police said there had been a dispute between the car driver and two riders over vehicle parking at the Tivim railway station. The car is alleged to have followed the scooter and struck the vehicle, before speeding away.
