Power shutdown in South Goa on March 17

Entire South Goa, barring a few pockets in the district, will go without power supply on March 17 as the Power Department has planned the annual showdown.

The power shut down will take place at 7 am in the morning till 1 pm on Sunday.

The office of Superintending Engineer-I, South Goa informed that the Electricity Department has planned shutdown for maintenance of EHV sub-stations in South Goa at 220/110/33/11KV Xeldem substation, 220/33KV Cuncolim sub station and 220KV incoming lines and 220KV,110KV & 33KV intrastate lines on Sunday 17th March 2024 from 7 am to 1 pm.

Hence, there will be no power supply during the period in the entire talukas of Canacona, Sanguem, Quepem and part of Dharbandora taluka i.e VP Kirlapal-Dabal, Shigao-Collem, Mollem and part of Ponda taluka i.e village panchayat of Panchwadi, parts of Salcete except Raia, Curtorim, Loutolim, Macazana and Verna, Majorda and Mormugao taluka.

The areas affected will be the entire talukas of Canacona, Sanguem, Quepem and part of Dharbandora taluka i.e VP Kirlapal-Dabal, Shigao-Collem, Mollem and part of Ponda taluka i.e VP Panchwadi, part of Salcete except Raia, Curtorim, Loutolim, Macazana and Verna, Majorda and Mormugao taluka.

The Power department has clarified that the annual shutdown is purely for maintenance of 220/110/33/11KV Xeldem substation, 220/33KV Cuncolim sub station and 220KV incoming lines and 220KV,110KV & 33KV intrastate lines. Consequent upon this there will be No Power Supply to all the associated 220KV/110KV/33KV Sub- Stations & lines.

The last time the department had planned a shut down in South Goa was in the month of December, but the same was later postponed due to some circumstances.
