The South Goa Additional Sessions Court on Friday found Pradeep Dungdung and Anand S guilty of the murder of 21-year-old Edison Sorang at Davorlim-Raia in 2020.
The court will hear arguments on sentencing on July 6. The accused were convicted under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident took place on the night of August 31, 2020. Both accused, natives of Jharkhand, were held responsible for the killing of Sorang.
According to the charge sheet, the accused had mocked the deceased’s girlfriend, which led to a heated argument. The dispute escalated and resulted in Sorang’s death.
The accused were reportedly in an inebriated state at the time.
The case was investigated by then Maina-Curtorim police station in-charge PI Shivram Vaingankar, who filed the charge sheet in court. Public Prosecutor Utkarsh Aude represented the State.
