400 kgs of meat seized in Bicholim

BICHOLIM

About 400 kgs of meat were seized from Nagzarwada-Bicholim when the Animal Rescue Squad (ARS) and Bicholim police raided an illegal slaughter house on Friday.  

According to reports, ARS chief Amrut Singh acted on a tip off and went to Nagzarwada, where he found bulls being slaughtered at a site.  

Singh then alerted the police who came and the meat was seized on the site.  

A person has been arrested in this connection, while the godown has also been sealed.  

A veterinary doctor inspected the site and said three bulls were slaughtered and the meat was about 400 kgs.  

Singh has requested the Bicholim Municipal Council to demolish the godown as slaughter had taken place at the site on a number of occasions.
