Sixty-two of 93 aspirants, who took the screening test for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, have cleared the exam held on Sunday.
The CBRT comprised a 75-mark multiple choice paper which had 90-minute duration and examined topics like English, Human Rights, Polity, History, Geography, and Logical Reasoning among other subjects.
GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha told reporters that around 2,400 candidates had applied for 28 positions and around 1,850 answered the pre-screening test, of whom only 93 made it to the next round.
The passed-out 62 candidates will now have to clear the fitness test which includes 100 meters and 800 meters running, high jump, long jump, and shot put throw. “The candidates also have to meet the minimum physical standards which are different for male and female candidates. We will hold the physical tests shortly which will be followed by the written test examination,” he said.
The Commission expects the entire recruitment procedure will be completed by mid-January - a record time of around five months. The GPSC on August 25 advertised the process of direct recruitment of 28 posts for DySPs. Of these, 14 are in the unreserved category, eight for OBC, four for ST, and two for EWS. The last batch of directly recruited DySPs was 25 years ago, in 1998 through the GPSC.
