The workers of Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Monday protested at Mapusa police station to demand action against drug mafia and prostitution.
The party workers later submitted a memorandum to DySP Mahesh Gaonkar in this connection. Party leaders Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar, Rahul Mhambrey and Ashwin Khalap took part in the protest.
The party workers said now drugs are consumed in schools and by children, while prostitution trade is carried out in residential buildings. The police should take strict action against it, failing which the protest will be intensified, warned the AAP workers.
Speaking to reporters, AAP leader Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar alleged that police has failed to curb illegal business. “Drugs and prostitution bought bad name to Goa. The government and the police should seriously act in the matter,” added Amonkar.
“Strict action should be initiated against the accused involved in throwing acid on a minor girl at Guirim, as only the arrest is not justified,” he said.
