A group of activists under the banner of ‘Goencho Avaz’ have called for the ‘revocation’ of the ‘anti-Goa and corrupt Regional Plan 2031’ and all the ODPs for the entire state of Goa.
Addressing the media, co-convenor of Goencho Avaz Viriato Fernandes said that instead a new Regional Plan 2031 should be drafted by keeping restrictions on both RP 2001 and 2021 in force and only allowing the construction of family dwellings, village schools and hospitals.
“The new RP should be drafted based on valid baseline data and in conformity with the constitutional mandate for people’s participation,” Fernandes said.
Another co-convenor Swapnesh Sherlekar said that while on one hand TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai withdrew some villages from the PDA, at the same time he made the Regional Plan 2021 operational which he said was a clear indication of the intentions of the government.
“We have carried out extensive studies of the properties across Goa proposed to be changed into settlement zones, some of which are owned by our politicians or their relatives. These names along with evidence will be disclosed at the awareness meet on April 27 at Lohia Maidan,” Sherlekar said.
The meeting is expected to be the South Goa version of the anti-PDA meeting held in Panaji earlier this month.
