Alliance with Goa Forward big mistake, says North Goa Congress president

Alliance with Goa Forward big mistake, says North Goa Congress president

MAPUSA
North Goa Congress President Vijay Bhike on Wednesday claimed that the party’s alliance with Goa Forward Party (GFP) had been a huge mistake, adding that the Congress party did not benefit in any manner from the alliance due to mismanagement by some state party leaders.

“The Congress did not benefit at all from an alliance with GFP. In fact, it was a loss. Just because of few leaders, the karyakartas had to suffer. This alliance was a huge mistake by the Congress,” said Bhike, while addressing a news conference at the party’s office in Mapusa, which was attended by various block presidents and party officials.

“In some constituencies, the candidature wasn’t decided properly as voters wanted honest candidates who were loyal to the party. Besides, a lot of Congress candidates lost by margin of 1,500-2,000 votes due to a split in votes,” said Bhike.

“We failed to appeal to the young voters. People were also angry about shifting parties. We received good cooperation from central leaders but we lost due to mismanagement by state party leaders,” he added.
