Anjuna plot first to get zone ‘corrected’ in RP after TCP Act amendment

PANAJIIn just about a month afterthe Town and Country Planning Act amendment empowering the Chief TownPlanner (planning) to makechanges to correct “inadvertent errors” in zoning, a 1,770square meter property in Anjuna became the first such tohave its zone changed underthe statute.

Of the larger 1,900 squaremeter plot at Anjuna, approximately 1,770 square meterswas shown as ‘orchard’ andthe balance settlement in Regional Plan-21.

Following an applicationfor rectification from Dattaprasad P Vernekar and MahavirKasi Nadar, the TCP department prepared a report supporting the plea.Another report was alsoprepared by an independentprofessional which were thenput up to the government forscrutiny and clearance.

“In the RP-2021, the zoneof the part of the plot ofland admeasuring an areaof 1,770 m2, surveyed underSurvey No. 89, sub-divisionNo. 9, of Village Anjuna,which is earmarked as Orchard zone as per RP-2021is hereby corrected as Settlement zone,” CTP (Planning) Rajesh Naik, said in thenotification.

The amendment empowering the CTP (Planning) todo the changes directly wasenacted in the winter session of the Goa legislative assembly in January and cameinto force on March 2, after itwas notified following assentfrom Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai.
