Barely in a span of two days after a 20-year-old lady police constable attached to the Verna police and a resident of Bhatti-Anjuna died after consuming poison, another lady police constable has attempted to end her life in the same way.
The lady police constable, who is a resident of Valpoi and attached to Porvorim police station, is currently undergoing medical treatment at GMC hospital in Bambolim.
According to the Panaji police, the lady constable had consumed poison at Miramar beach late Monday night. She was later shifted to GMC hospital and hospital staff notified the Panaji police station.
Meanwhile, when the lady constable’s condition improved, Panaji PSI Kishore Ramanan recorded her statement and began an investigation.
Police enquiries revealed that she had remained absent on duty at the Porvorim police station on Monday and her attendance was not registered in the police diary. Police suspect that the lady cop could have been compelled to take such a drastic step over a love affair.
