Plastic waste was found in a water body at a culvert near the Azad Nagar colony, throwing up questions on the waste collection and the cleaning of drains as part of pre-monsoon works by the Margao Municipal Council.
In fact, a citizen pointed out that the Margao workers still have time to clear the plastic, including bottles, before they all find its way in the drains before flowing into the river, creating environmental disaster.
The waste stuck up in the water body at the culvert is visible from the main railway station road. “Since it is stuck at the culvert, the MMC can deploy its workers to clear the plastic waste,” the citizen remarked.
