Sirvodem murder: Pan walla helped cops identify victim and place of residence

MARGAO
Even as the Goa police made painstaking efforts to scan through the CCTV footage establishments to achieve a breakthrough in the Sirvodem murder, it was a pan walla operating on the adjoining Calconda road, who identified the victim and revealed his place of residence.

After achieving a breakthrough in the sensational murder, the Margao police is on the job to piece evidence to ensure the evidence collected forms a chain to nail the accused.

Investigations so far have revealed that a total of four persons were staying in the premises along the main Calconda road. Initial investigation has revealed that four persons, all from Jharkhand, were putting up in the premises. It has also come to light that the victim and the accused were on inimical terms. On Friday evening, police believe the four were in an inebriated state. Of the four persons, one of them left the premises and headed towards the railway station to spend the night.

In the meantime, sources said a pan walla is believed to have helped the police identify the victim and his place of residence. After the police managed to get the CCTV footage from an establishment on the Calconda road, a police officer is believed to have shown the footage to the pan walla operating along the road, who quickly identified the man staying right in front of his business.

Sources said when the police team entered the premises, the accused was still housed in the premises with a swollen eye.

The police have so far recovered the knife used to slit the victim’s stomach. The police have obtained six days custodial remand for the accused to carry out further investigations.
