OLD GOA
The breach in the Azossim bundh will finally get repairs as the tender for work on the same will be opened on June 22.
Divulging this to The Goan, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar informed that he proposed that the work be taken up under the Disaster Management Authority as otherwise it would get delayed.
“As the monsoons were approaching, there was a need to get the breach repaired on an urgent basis. Therefore, I proposed that the work should be taken up under Disaster Management,” Borkar informed.
But the MLA expressed disappointment that even under Disaster Management, it took a considerable amount of time to get the work approved.
“And the tender for the work to repair the breach in the Azossim bundh would be opened on June 22. The work will be taken up at a cost of over Rs 93 lakh,” Borkar stated and informed that there should be quick response when any work is taken up under Disaster Management.
Citing the importance of the breach repair, Borkar stated that during rains the water level rises and threatens to flood the low-lying houses in Azossim.
