Stating that he would not join the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP), St Cruz MLA Babush Monserrate said that he would instead float his own party before the Assembly elections are announced.
When questioned in how many constituencies he would put up his candidates, Monserrate said he was now concentrating only on the formation of the party. “When everything falls in place, the decision on contesting in the number of constituencies will be decided,” he added.
Monseratte made the statement while speaking to the media at his Taleigao office, on Monday.
Monserrate also came down heavily on the BJP-led government claiming that it has failed on all fronts. “This government is only concentrating in BJP-ruled constituencies while neglecting opposition-ruled constituencies,” he alleged while informing that many major developmental works promised during Manohar Parrikar’s time have yet to see the light of the day.
“Even the government schemes are not reaching the people who are supporters of the opposition MLAs,” Monserrate stated and added that the government should rename these schemes as BJP schemes since only BJP supporters are getting maximum benefits.
