Ban Sanatan Saunstha, urges Wagh

PANAJI

St Andre MLA, Vishnu Wagh, has called for a ban on Sanatan Saunstha in the wake of the organisation’s name being repeatedly linked to attacks on rationalists.

“In a democracy there is no scope for violence. All those who use bullets to silence the voice of the opposition are nothing but terrorists,” Wagh said, while pointing out that a state like Goa, which hosts the headquarters of Sanatan Saunstha, cannot afford to have such venom-spewing outfits.

“I urge Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to ban the organisation from functioning in the State,” Wagh said while speaking to a national news channel.

Kolhapur police have arrested Samir Gaikwad, a seeker of the organisation, for his alleged involvement in the murder on Govind Pansare who was a known rationalist and social activist.

The police are also probing the alleged involvement of other seekers in the murder of several persons including Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar, and more recent being M M Kalburgi's death.

The murders of these three activists shook the conscience of right thinking people.
