PANAJI:
A bank employee has been arrested for allegedly misappropriating funds and committing theft of gold from an account holder.
Tanvi Vast, employed as a representative of Vision India at Central Bank of India (Curchorem Branch), reportedly manipulated transactions to divert Rs 5.50 lakh from account of the complainant woman Rosalina Dias into her account.
As per the Curchorem police, the accused also took her victim into confidence and when the complainant depicted her gold ornaments necklace, two chains, five bangles, two bracelets, two rings, and one pair of earrings; these were reportedly exchanged to metal and returned to the victim. The valuables were all worth Rs 25 lakh. The complainant on realising she was cheated on Nov 18 filed a complaint. A case was registered and the accused was arrested.
