OLD GOA
Baptist Pereira was elected as the sarpanch of Corlim while Supriya Kerkar was elected as the deputy sarpanch as elections to both the posts were held in the panchayat office, on Monday.
The election to the posts were necessitated after the ouster of Viresh Assolkar and Freeda Po as sarpanch and dy sarpanch respectively.
As only one nomination was received for both the posts, both Pereira and Kerkar were declared elected unopposed.
Later speaking to The Goan, Pereira outlined that his top priority would be to build a new Panchayat Ghar for Corlim, a demand which has been pending for long.
