MARGAO
A Colva police team is heading to Pune on Tuesday as part of investigations in the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a 31-year old Benaulim man Ashish Naik since the last one week, even as Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has demanded a thorough probe into the episode.
Colva PI Filomena Costa said the police team is heading to Pune as Ashish’s mobile phone was traced to Pune. “I have nothing to say on the allegations made in certain quarters. Our team is heading to Pune and the investigations are underway,” he said.
A small meeting was held at Benaulim by the missing man’s friends, which was attended by local MLA Churchil Alemao, who has demanded a thorough inquiry into the missing episode. “I do not want to take names of the persons, who could be the reasons behind the mysterious disappearance of Ashish, as we will be accused of politicizing the issue,” he said.
Churchill, however, said he spoke to the DGP as well as the South Goa district police chief, SP Arvind Gawas, demanding a thorough probe in the episode.
The Colva police, in the meantime, had called Avinash, brother of Ashish to the police station as part of the ongoing inquiry in the matter.
PI Costa informed that they had found Ashish’s two-wheeler at the Margao bus stand.
