Bharatesh Education Trust which runs 19 educational institutions in Belagavi is observing its diamond jubilee year.
Established in 1962, the trust runs 8 schools, a homoeopathic medical college, nursing college, polytechnic, ITI, all UG branches and PG institutes and supports a study centre of Hampi Kannada University. While many activities were held throughout the year to commemorate the diamond jubilee, many events have been organised this year too.
Briefing media persons, Chairman of the Trust Dr Jinadatta Desai said the institution has excelled and has earned a reputation across the nation and beyond.
“We have about 8,000 students and 500 staff. The alumni include hundreds of doctors, engineers, businessmen, entrepreneurs, government officials, etc. spread across India and abroad. The Trust’s focus has always been towards providing quality education at affordable cost to the students,” Dr Desai said.
“Apart from social and community causes, the trust has been in forefront when it comes to taking the pledge of social service ahead and during the diamond jubilee year we are all set to expand our social outreach.”
The Trust has embarked on a massive construction drive across all its campuses and is also commemorating the birth centenary year of its former chairman Komalanna Doddanavar. A life-sized statue is being erected to honour his contribution to the trust.
“We have planned a series of meaningful events and activities that shall reach out to thousands of well-wishers, students, past and present, and associates in the region,” Dr Desai said further.
While a series of events were organised since August 2022, a week-long cultural extravaganza has been planned from January 17. DY Chougule Bharatesh High School is celebrating the year with its alumnus noted Kannada actor Charanraj as its chief guest.
Among other events, Indian music composer, vocalist and lyricist duo Sachet Tandon and Parampara Tandon will be presenting an entertainment programme on January 20.
