Amazon is the world leader in e-commerce and cloud computing space. In the three years since the launch of Amazon s operations in India, it has totally revolutionised the e-commerce space in the country. Given that, there are huge expectations because it has potential to transform Goan market as well. Director public policy, Amazon, Avinash Ramachandra, said: “The idea behind meeting the chief minister was to have an exchange of information between the state government and Amazon; to discuss what Amazon is and how Amazon has performed in India in the last 3 years” Ramachandra continued, “The idea was also to discuss which Goan products can be marketed through Amazon s e-commerce portal” This was actually a part of Amazon s drive, wherein the company is meeting several governments in India to see the potential of marketing their products through online channel. For example, Amazon markets handlooms from states like West-Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Orrisa. Similarly, a number of Goan products can be marketed at Amazon given that tourists from all over India come to Goa and love Goan products, which they would like to buy back home, but there is no way to do it as of now. When asked which Goan products can be marketed through Amazon, Ramachandra replied, “It is too early for us to comment on that.”
