OLD GOA
Hemant Golatkar, BJP's St Cruz candidate who had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections in 2017, was booked for allegedly assaulting and threatening a public servant on duty by the Old Goa Police, on Sunday.
Sources at the Old Goa Police informed that the flying squad received a call of illegal excavation and land filling at Kadamba plateau and a team supervised by Deputy Collector Sheru Shirodkar reached the spot and found some trucks and a JCB machine along with labourers involved in land filling work.
The police further informed that when the field surveyor asked the labourers who were behind the job, Golatkar arrived and informed that he is doing the work at the instance of a prominent politician.
But when the field surveyor asked for legal documents for the job, the police informed that Golatkar started shouting and told that the prominent politician had orally told him to do the job.
"He also started yelling that he is the politician's right hand and told the labourers to go ahead with the job of land filling," the police added and informed that when the flying squad team tried to stop the work, Golatkar pushed the field surveyor while also threatening him with dire consequences.
"He also threatened the Old Goa Police personnel who were present at the site," the police informed.
Later, the police attached six trucks and a JCB involved in the work while also filing a complaint against Golatkar under Sections 353, 504 and 506(2) of IPC. Further investigations are underway.
