A self-accident on Atal Setu caused traffic chaos from Panaji to Porvorim on Monday. A speeding four-wheeler hit into a truck after it crashed into the divider and the electricity pole.
Fortunately, the accident did not result in any fatalities; however, it caused a massive traffic jam for over an hour.
The injured driver was taken to the hospital for medical attention and the ill-fated vehicle that overturned owing to the impact was towed to the local police station for investigation. The traffic police rushed to the accident site while additional police personnel were deployed to man the vehicular traffic on both sides of the bridge.
“Whether negligent driving or mechanical failure or any other reason that led to the accident is being inquired into. The transport officials are requested to inspect the vehicle,” an official at the site told The Goan.
