As preparations continue for the historic the Saardh Panchashatabdi Mahotsava of Shri Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math (also called Shree Partagali Jeevottam Math), Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at the Partagal Math on Friday evening ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
Earlier, the administration led by Chief Secretary Dr V Candavelou, IAS, held a preliminary meeting in the Math Hall. They inspected the ongoing construction works, which are in the final stage, and reviewed all arrangements for the 550th-anniversary celebrations of the math.
DGP Alok Kumar, Collector (South) Egna Cleetus, IAS, SP (South) Tikam Singh Verma, Fire and Emergency Services Director Nitin Raikar, and senior officers from various departments were present for the inspection of security and other arrangements.
The Chief Secretary reviewed preparations for the 11-day Saardh Panchashatabdi Mahotsava, scheduled from November 27 to December 7, marking 550 years of the math’s history.
Authorities have decided to tighten security during the Prime Minister’s visit, during which he will unveil a 77-foot statue of Shree Ram on November 28. A helipad has been built about half a kilometre from the math to ensure safe and smooth arrival. Officials led by the Chief Secretary examined the feasibility of the helipad for the Prime Minister’s landing. Restrictions on devotees and particularly the media will be in place due to security concerns following the recent Delhi blast.
The math has also constructed over 650 flats to accommodate guests during the 11-day festival.
Key highlights of the celebrations include the unveiling of the 77-foot bronze statue of Shree Ram, 3D projection mapping, various religious and cultural programmes featuring well-known singers and film personalities, completion of a chanting campaign of 500 crore Shree Ram Naam Japa which began on Ram Navami, and the arrival of the Shree Ram Digvijay Rathayatra, which started from Badrinath and is expected to reach Goa on 22 November.
The Chief Minister arrived late in the evening, took darshan of the Swami at the math, received blessings, and then chaired a crucial closed-door meeting with the administration led by the Chief Secretary.
