The Chimbel panchayat inaugurated its newly constructed Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Indira Nagar on Monday.
Sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar inaugurated the MRF in the presence of Panchayat Secretary Rajendra Gawas, Deputy Sarpanch Rosy Uttukuri, panchas Mohan Narve, Mohini Narve, Pramila Kunkolkar and Vasanti Vernekar.
The MRF has been built at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and will be used to sort, store and bale dry waste from the village.
Meanwhile, residents residing near the MRF have expressed concern over the indiscriminate dumping of garbage in the area.
“People are dumping garbage near the MRF during late night and early morning, due to which waste accumulates around the MRF,” a resident informed.
“There is a need to keep vigil in the area from late night till early morning to prevent the people from dumping garbage,” he added.
Meanwhile, panchayat authorities informed that they will post two persons near the MRF on a salary basis to keep vigil in the area.
The authorities have also decided to install CCTV cameras at the MRF to keep an eye on those dumping garbage.
