The security may have been tight but that did not stop Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from interacting with people outside Dabolim airport on Saturday morning.

Gandhi arrived on a one-day visit and was welcomed at the airport by former union minister P Chidambaram, Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Opposition Leader and others.

A huge police force along with commandos were at the airport to provide security to Gandhi, in addition to his personal security.

A lot of people, including former legislators and block presidents, were present to greet Gandhi, but were kept at some distance from the motorcade.

Chodankar decided to drive the vehicle that had arrived to carry Gandhi, while Chidambaram, Dinesh Gundu Rao and Margao MLA sat in the back seat.

Gandhi was seen chatting with Chodankar before they could leave the airport, when many people were seen waving out to Gandhi from afar.

Gandhi then lowered his glass and even invited Vasco Block Congress President Ularico Rodrigues and accepted his bouquet of flowers.

Gandhi then interacted with a few people from the Youth Congress and even told the security officials to take it easy, while people were trying to get a glimpse of him or were trying to talk to him.

Gandhi chose to wait outside the airport for about 10 minutes so that people who had gathered could see and greet him. Gandhi later left for Velsao where he had an interaction with the fishing community.
