Stating that several Congress MLAs were calling him to pledge their support to the Goa Forward Party, TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai on Wednesday said it was time the Congress pondered on why their MLAs were leaving the party.
Sardessai was speaking to reporters at Dabolim International Airport before leaving for Delhi for a meeting with central BJP leaders.
“GPCC President Girish Chodankar had said they would topple the government and they did not require Vijai Sardessai for that. Today, several Congress MLAs have called me to inform that they would want to stand in support with me against the Congress.”
Taking a potshot at Chodankar, Sardessai added: “Chodankar, who cannot win a council election, was made a state president by Congress. It is time the Congress did some introspection as to why their own MLAs were leaving the party.”
Taking a dig at the Congress and Aam Admi Party (AAP), Sardessai said the Congress in Goa had become a mini-AAP, “which was opposing anything under the sun without reason and rhyme.
“The Congress has become a mini AAP in Goa and this is not going well with their MLAs and they have left. They must now introspect why despite being the single largest party they could not form the government and why no one is joining them, but instead their own MLAs are running away. With the kind of president they have, they cannot do anything or go anywhere from here,” said Sardessai.
Sardessai also said the Goa Forward Party, which played a major role in formation of the present coalition government, would also be a main factor to decide the next course of action.
