Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Saturday said the entry of eight Congress MLAs had strengthened the BJP in Goa, adding that Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar’s entry would make the BJP stronger in Mormugao taluka.
Salkar was speaking to reporters during the International Coastal Clean-Up Day in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldessai, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and others.
“We welcome all MLAs into the party and this has made the party stronger in the Mormugao Taluka, which has BJP legislators in Vasco and Dabolim and now, in Mormugao. We also have a like-minded MLA in Cortalim and overall the BJP has become stronger in the Taluka “ said Salkar.
Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldessai, who flagged off the clean-up drive, said such initiatives are important for Goa because beaches are associated with tourism which provides great economy and offers direct and indirect employment to people.
“We have even administered a pledge to offer 100 hours during our lifetime or two hours per week towards cleanliness to keep our surroundings clean,” said Phaldessai.
