Mandre college organises beach cleaning drive

Mandre College of Commerce, Economics and Management organised a beach cleaning drive under the ‘Clean Sagar, Safe Sagar’, an initiative of Government of India, at Mandre beach on Saturday.

This activity was undertaken to create social awareness about tonnes of garbage which gets washed out in seas and nearby areas. A total 70 students and 25 staff members actively took part in the cleanliness activity. The activity was coordinated by Darshana Kerkar, NSS Coordinator of the college.

Coast Guard coordinates beach clean-ups at various locations

The International Coastal Clean-Up Day was conducted by Indian Coast Guard in coordination with Ministry of Earth Sciences in the state on Saturday, as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav/Puneet Sagar Abhiyan.   This event is one of the world’s largest one-day voluntary effort to clean the beaches.   The event was conducted concurrently in the beaches of Bogmalo, Baina, Velsao, Colva, Majorda and Miramar, wherein Coast Guard personnel, NCPOR, NSS/NCC…
