BJP councillor Prajay Mayekar accused Congress supporters of the post-poll attack on his father, mother and uncle, besides pelting stones on his house.
“Congress supporters had been informing people that they would brutally attack BJP supporters on Holi a few days in advance. Mormugao has been in fear ever since Sankalp Amonkar won the election and their supporters initially began by bursting crackers near the houses of BJP supporters, then they began attacking our supporters,” said Mayekar.
Mayekar said the incident took place as around 40-50 Congress supporters were celebrating Holi with DJ music on the roads.
"My father was returning home, when these supporters blocked his car, abused him and later hurled beer bottles on the car. They then removed him from his car and started assaulting him.”
“My mother rushed to save him but was also attacked, and all of them threw my mother and father on the ground and began kicking them. My brother and uncle then rushed out and they were also attacked.”
“We somehow managed to get them home after which the group started pelting stones on our house and broke all the windows. When we called the police, these people started charging on the police and continued to pelt stones and hurl abuses in front of the police," said Mayekar.
"We have filmed videos of how they were pelting stones on our house and the situation is going from bad to worse. There is goondaism ever since Congress won the Mormugao seat. The CM and BJP must act on this immediately, failing which no one will be safe here anymore," said Mayekar.
