Court allows ore trader Khan to withdraw money

PANAJI

Ore trader Imran Khan who is facing the heat from the state investigating agencies for alleged illegal mining has been permitted by the Bombay High Court at Goa to defreeze a current account after Khan approached the court.

Since there was no opposition from the public prosecutor, the High Court granted him the go-ahead.

By an order, the Sessions Judge has allowed the withdrawal of an amount of Rs 25 lakh from one of the accounts held by Khan on furnishing an indemnity bond. However, the order does not specify from which account the amount is allowed to be withdrawn which brought Khan to the HC. He told the court that the Rs 25 lakh may be allowed to be withdrawn from a current account and the said amount may be ‘de-frezeed’ to the extent of Rs 25 lakh by way of ad interim relief at this stage.
