The first day of the Covid vaccination drive for people over 45 years got a good response at the Chicalim Sub District Hospital on Thursday, with around 180 people, including senior citizens and frontline workers, getting their jabs.
Speaking to reporters, Health Officer and Medical Superintendent of Chicalim SDH Dr Anil Umbraskar said around 100 people had been vaccinated in the first half of the day.
"By afternoon, we vaccinated around 100 persons, comprising 60 in the age group of above 45 years, 30 people (above 60 years) and frontline workers (10) of the Railways.”
“People began arriving again in the second half and by the end of the day, we vaccinated around 180 persons," said Dr Umbraskar.
“I appeal to people to come forward and get vaccinated. People can approach us in case they have any doubts. With the vaccine, people can get Covid but the severity will be less and people may not need hospitalisation," said Dr Umbraskar.
Resident and hotelier, Sukant Shanbhag, who received the jab, lauded the Chidalim SDH for the arrangements made for people to get their Covid vaccines.
