Former advocate general for Goa and current Additional Solicitor General for the Supreme Court of India, Atmaram Nadkarni, appeared for Goa in the case. Senior advocate Fali Nariman and senior advocate of Supreme Court of India, Anil Diwan, represented Karnataka.
Goa in its statement to the Tribunal on Tuesday said the regions of Hubli and Dharwad have received 21 per cent more rain so far, thus pointing to inadequacies in the demand to divert water to the areas.
In its prayers to the Tribunal, Karnataka reiterated lack of water for drinking and farming in the regions of Hubli and Dharwad and made a case for 7.56 MLD to be diverted to the basin. Goa in its statement said its basin is in fact a deficit one and could not afford to divert any water.  Cross-questioning of witnesses is expected to resume on July 14.
