CURCHOREM
Curchorem gymkhana will be renovated shortly, as the present condition of the gymnasium needs immediate attention.
Director of Sports and Youth affairs V M Prabhudessai has appointed Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral as president of C B (Cerebral Palsy) Football, where differently-abled children will play football matches.
In a joint meeting with the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Curchorem MLA on Monday morning, it was decided to develop the government playground and the gymkhana. In a brief discussion between the sports department officials and the MLA, it was decided that there was a need to change roofing and renovate minor areas of the gymkhana. It was also discussed and agreed that some gymkhana equipments need to be purchased, looking at the increasing numbers of the locals.
Some officials, who were present, also raised certain issues pertaining to lack of funds and red-tapism faced by them. Prabhudessai also asked the officials to make an estimate and to send it to him. Later, Prabhudessai made an announcement that MLA Cabral was appointed as the president of C B Football Goa.
“Looking at the enthusiasm and leadership of MLA Cabral, he has been given this position. Cabral will see the functioning of C B Football and activities. He will also get an opportunity to visit Rio Olympics in C B Football,” Prabhudessai said.
Later, Prabhudessai met gymkhana in-charge Ravi Dessai and discussed the various issues about Curchorem gymkhana. “The estimate will be prepared by my officials and gymkhana will be renovated. New gym equipment is also on the way, which will reach the gymkhana soon. Despite financial crunch, efforts are being made to maintain and to improve gymkhanas and the playgrounds,” Prabhudessai informed.
