Demand for probe into Colva bungalow project Mycia Rodrigues speaks at a media briefing on the bungalow construction project.

MARGAO
Residents of Colva on Monday threatened to lodge complaints with the Vigilance Department against government officials, including officials of the Town and Country Planning Department, for issuing a completion certificate in respect of the bungalows constructed in the village.
Addressing the media, Mycia and Anthony Rodrigues said this is perhaps the first time that a completion certificate has been issued by the TCP for a construction project without an inspection.
Mycia alleged that the completion certificate has been issued by the TCP when the road width is hardly 4.30 metres, whereas a six-metre road is shown on the plan.
She further alleged that the TCP has not inspected the bungalows to check the FAR and other issues raised by the fishermen.
The briefing was attended by Colva Sarpanch Tereza Fernandes and panchayat members, including Suzie Fernandes, Domingo Rodrigues and others.
Mycia further contended that the Colva Village Panchayat had fixed as many as three inspections, but the same were postponed without any reason. She further pointed out that the Village Panchayat had issued a stop-work order, but the same was rejected by the Salcete BDO office. “The panchayat secretary has also been transferred and replaced by a new secretary. We would like to warn the officials that we would approach the Vigilance Department for a probe if they act in contravention of the laws in force,” Mycia warned.
Meanwhile, panch member Suzie Fernandes said the panchayat is fully backing the stand taken by the fishermen, Mycia and Anthony Rodrigues, in respect of the bungalows.
