Post-mortem examination report of deceased 27-year old Diksha Gangawar has established that her death was homicidal as the report has clearly pointed out that she was smothered to death in the sandy waters at the Rajbagh beach.
The post-mortem examination was carried out by legal-medico officers at the South Goa district hospital on Monday, after which the Diksha’s body was handed over to her relatives.
Sources in the know informed that the young woman was smothered to death, adding that a couple of injuries were also spotted on Diksha’s body, including injuries on her chest. “The autopsy has revealed that she was smothered to death in shallow water, which is technically called as death in sandy waters”, sources in the know informed.
The Cuncolim police pointed out that that post-mortem examination will help nail the accused husband, Gaurav Katiyar, who had taken the plea that his wife had died of drowning after an argument. “The post mortem has shed light on the cause of death of the woman. The report has clearly stated that the woman was smothered to death in the shallow water”, the Cuncolim police stated.
Police sources informed that the accused husband had reportedly taken the plea that the duo entered into a heated argument before she landed in the water and drowned.
