Former minister and ex-MLA of Cortalim Alina Saldanha met Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and sought his intervention to take up the issue of the SWR double tracking through the villages of South Goa.
In a statement, Saldanha said she had requested Tharoor to stop the destruction in these villages and the lives of people in Goa.
Later in a message on the social media platform ‘X’, Tharoor said he had received a visit from Saldanha to brief him “on the passions roused by the Government’s indiscriminate felling of trees and encroachment on private lands in its drive to create a second railway track to transport coal from Mormugao Port through Goa’s forests and heritage villages.”
