The gram sabha which was chaired by Sarpanch Philomena D’Mello felt that although MLAs like Mauvin Godinho and Nilesh Cabral were supporting it, the doubling of tracks should not be allowed as already enough hardships has been caused which will only be doubled with doubling of tracks.
The gram sabha members hauled up Secretary for stalling payments of legal fees inspite of having required Court judgements and orders to jeopardise the legitimate rights of the villagers to seek justice. It was resolved that the VP secretary attend court hearings as scheduled and request and apply for rojnama of the court matters and not to fall prey to vested interest of a few elected panchas.
It was pointed out by gram sabha member Dr Correia that the only time the secretary attended court was to accompany a builder for his matter.
Doubts were also raised by the panchas about the approval of the financial budget with secretary Pradeep Tamankar claiming that the budget was discussed. However, two panchas John Fernandez and Luis D’Costa refuted his claims and said the figures were not recorded in the minutes and the columns for figures were left blank.
