Duo arrested for flesh trade
MARGAO:The PI of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit has arrested two persons, who are allegedly suspected to have indulged in trafficking of girls for the purpose of prostitution.
According to the anti-human trafficking unit, the incident occurred on March 16, when one Suraj Shaikh (30), a native of West Bengal, was caught red-handed in Margao while he had come with two victim girls - one a native of Maharashtra and the other from Madhya Pradesh - allegedly for the purpose of prostitution. He was suspected to have been in the process of allegedly delivering these victim girls to prospective customers and allegedly having lured the victims and detained them for prostitution thereby living out of the earnings of such illicit activity.
Upon further investigations, the police also nabbed his suspected accomplice, one Manoj Kumar Chowdhury (30), a resident of Davorlim, on the same day.
They have been booked under Section 370 A (2) of IPC and Section 4, 5, 6 & 7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Further investigations are in progress.
