Electricity pole falls on moving bike; father, daughter escapes

A man and his 4-year-old daughter on a bike had a miraculous escape after an electricity pole came crashing down on their moving bike in Mapusa early Saturday morning. The incident happened on the road leading towards Housing Board just opposite the Dattwadi crematorium in Mapusa.

Mapusa Police informed that a car, which was speeding down from the Housing Board, crashed on to the electricity pole near the crematorium at around 8.45 am.

Police rushed to the site and began conducting panchanama when the pole suddenly gave way and came down just when a motorcycle was proceeding from Housing Board towards the city.

The rider suffered some bruises on his hand and leg but was under shock while his four-year-old daughter escaped with a minor injury and was safe, police said.The rider was first rushed to the North Goa District Hospital and later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where he has been kept under observation. The child was discharged after first aid.

Mapusa Police is investigating the incident.
