MARGAO
The Save Mhadei campaign echoed on the banks of river Sal, Salcete’s lifeline, as activists and fishermen took to their traditional fishing canoes to spread the message to Save Mhadei.
Armed with Save Mhadei flags, a group of residents and fishermen from Assolna and Ambelim, Salcete’s fishing villages, shouted slogans in support of Mhadei and to make a fervent plea to the people to participate in Monday’s rally at Sanquelim.
Activist Anthony D’Silva who supported the campaign urged the people of Goa to leave aside their differences and march to Sanquelim to show their solidarity with the people of Goa and to send a message loud and clear to Delhi and Karnataka that people of Goa will never allow diversion of Mhadei river waters.
A member of the Save Goa, Save Mhadei front, spearheading the ongoing movement to save Mhadei, D’Silva said this is the time when Goans at large should united under one banner to demand the immediate withdrawal of the DPR by the Centre.
