The Goa Forward party workers went in a huddle at the Goemkar Ghor on Sunday morning to finalize arrangements for the Save Mhadei rally scheduled at Amona, Sanquelim on Monday evening.

Goa Forward Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai’s appeal to the party rank and file to join the rally in large numbers went viral. Sources informed Sardesai is believed to have told the party workers to mobilize maximum people for the Monday rally.

The Goa Forward party has joined hands with other opposition parties in extending support to the Save Mhadei rally called by the Save Goa, Save Mhadei front.

In his appeal, Sardesai reminded the people how January 16 occupies an important place in Goa’s rich history. “Our elders had fought to ensure that Goa remains a separate identity by voting against the merger. This is the biggest day in Goa’s history. This year, all the NGOs have given a call for a Save Mhadei meeting at Sanquelim  on Monday evening. All the opposition parties, barring those which are in the pockets of the ruling BJP, have extended their support to the Save Mhadei rally”, he said.

Recalling how the people of Fatorda had stood by him twice on the plank of Goemkarpon, Sardesai made a fervent plea to the people of Fatorda to join the rally to save Mhadei and the lifeline of Goa.

The Goa Forward chief has promised to arrange transport for the people by asking the people to contact their respective ward councilors.
