The Goa Naval Area observed 'World Environment Day' on June 5, with all personnel and their families contributing in conservation of the environment.

According to a press note, the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign was also conducted as part of the proceedings in the preceeding week, with naval personnel participating in cleaning activities.

Workshops, lectures, quiz competition and nature camps were also organised to spread awareness on environmental issues. About 2,000 saplings were planted by families of the naval fraternity, as part of the plantation drive to develop green cover for the future generations.

The personnel were encouraged to adopt constructive methods to safeguard and protect endangered species in line with this year’s World Environment Day theme 'Go wild for life'.
