Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy on Wednesday promised that the Centre and the State government will definitely provide financial support towards the maintenance of the room at the Subriaya Nayak house visited by Swami Vivekananda for eight days.
The Union Minister and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, BJP leader Damu Naik descended at the House on Wednesday noon to pay their tributes to the great spiritual leader.
When questioned during his interaction with the media, Reddy said the Centre and State government would certainly extend all financial support to the maintenance of the room which plays host to all the items and furniture used by the Swami during his stay in the room.
“If a proposal comes from the family for financial assistance to maintain the room, the Centre and the State government would definitely consider the proposal. We will certainly extend all support to maintain the room,” he said.
Reddy said that Swami Vivekananda’s teaching is relevant only in the present century, but will be relevant ever after 1,000 years. “Swami’s teachings will remain an inspiration for the country’s youth to take the country forward and make it a super power. He wanted the youth to showcase their talents and use them for the development of the country,” he added.
Later, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP leader and Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Damu Naik presided over a function held to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda at the Ravindra Bhavan.
In his address, Sawant pointed out that the Swami Vivekananda Kendra has been set up at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao during his stint as the State’s Chief Minister.
Damu, in his brief address, urged the youth to emulate the ideals of Swami Vivekananda to take the State and the country forward towards the path of development.
