In a major political development in Cuncolim and Saligao, former Congress Block Secretary Irinio Coutinho and former Congress North Goa District General Secretary Bholanath Ghadi joined the Goa Trinamool Congress at two separate events held at the party office in Panaji.
In a press note, TMC states that Irinio Cutinho was inducted into the party by Lok Sabha MP and AITC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra, Rajya Sabha MP and AITC Goa Co-incharge Sushmita Dev and AITC Media Coordinator Om Prakash Mishra.
Addressing the media, Irinio Coutinho stated, “I’m proud today that I’ve been inducted into the Goa Trinamool Congress. I’ve joined the party because I’m impressed by the work the local as well national leadership has done. Also, schemes like Mhaje Ghar, Maalki Hakk, Griha Laxmi and Yuva Shakti that the TMC plans to implement are not just impressive but will be very effective as well.”
Minutes later, former Congress North Goa District General Secretary, Bholanath Ghadi along with his supporters joined Goa TMC in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and AITC Goa Co-incharge Sushmita Dev.
Following the induction, Bholanath Ghadi stated, “I was earlier associated with Congress but they merged with the BJP. So, in reality, the only party that is serious about defeating the BJP is TMC and so I decided to join.”
Party flays govt, says transfer order issued to police personnel after MCC came into play
PANAJI: Goa TMC condemned the arbitrary actions of the BJP-led government in Goa highlighting the recent transfer orders of police personnel across the State.
Addressing the members of the press on behalf of the party, Saket Gokhale noted that in violation of the Election Commission’s Model Code of Conduct, a day after the elections were notified in the State, the Goa government via the Police establishment ordered the transfer of 18 Dy SPs, 39 PIs, and 57 PSIs. Further, a copy of that notification has still not been submitted to the EC, as is the regulatory requirement.
Goa TMC will send an official representation to the EC demanding that it scrap these orders and hold the State administration accountable for its actions, adds the press note.
